Had a blast working on "Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown" with the gameXcite team throughout 2024 and 2025, and I’m excited to finally share the results publicly.
My main task on the project was creating most of the USS Voyager rooms that players can build in the game, including their different upgrade stages. I was responsible for the layout, modeling, materials, and lighting of these spaces. To work efficiently, I relied heavily on modular workflows and trim textures.
Most of the console assets were created by cView, while the furniture and several smaller props were made by Julian Lawrenz. Big thanks as well to our 3D Art Lead, Johannes Popp, who supported the art team throughout the entire process and provided Naja Jelec and me with valuable feedback.
Because Voyager is presented as a side-view cutaway, we had to carefully define the purpose of each room, decide how to include as many recognizable elements from the series as possible despite only showing half of each space, and determine room sizes that would still work within the building grid.
Some of the rooms featured in the game never appeared in the TV series, so we had the exciting challenge of designing entirely new spaces that still felt consistent with the established visual language and believable within the Star Trek universe.
A special thanks goes to Dirk Schumacher, whose exceptional knowledge of Voyager and artistic leadership were invaluable throughout the entire process.
